This was tricky business. In an ideal world it makes sense to fit the coil springs once the crossmember is mounted back on the car, but I like to make things difficult for myself I guess. I bought a coil spring compressor from the ever dependable Frost which made the job of fitting the springs and stub axles much easier. The stub axles were reconditioned units from the MGOC. A word of warning to anyone attempting this: make sure you re-fit the crossmember mounting bolts before you fit the springs. I didn't and ended up wasting most of a day taking them off and putting them back on again to fit the bolts.
